Tale #31 – Shaped Against the Wind

Wind is a funny thing. It can destroy fleets or push them home to port. No wonder the Bible says that those who study and strengthen themselves against having their faith caught at the mercy of “every wind of doctrine.” However, in this episode of the Bard & Bible, I call forth a large section of my favorite novel – American Gods – and team it up with Nathanael sitting under a fig tree at the end of John 1 to talk about the malleability of faith. How the substance of faith should be found on the solid foundation of one worthy of it – while the form and functionality of it might be allowed to shift and change with new experiences.
